We had a really wonderful Halloween! We started the weekend out Trunk or Treating at our church, Christ the Savior. It took all of our parental powers to convince him that he needed to wear a costume while we were at home. Finally, we just told him nobody would give him candy if he didn't wear something. He agreed to the "candy jacket" and we were happy. Alice was much more easy going about being a doodle bug. I actually made two lady bug costumes, but hated both, tore one apart with my seam ripper, and decided to take my husband's suggestion and make her a doodle bug instead.
Luke proudly walked up to the first car and said, prompted by Daddy, said "trick or feet!" It worked for him because he got a pretty good stash the first night. He rode home with his head in the candy bag admiring all of the pieces.
Although, he would take one out from time to time to really get a good look.

Being the incredibly responsible parents that we are, we let him have a few pieces right before bed. :)

For trick or treating, we had a couple of our friends over for doughnuts and cider before we braved three toddlers, one baby, one pregnant lady and the chilly evening.
Our friends Laura and Patrick with their little guy live in our neighborhood and attend our church. . .

Our friends Jamala, Brad and their little man our technically my aunt and uncle, but that's complicated. We enjoy their company every Thursday night for a pitch in meal at our house.

And of course, our little crew.

And then the trick or treating was on! Really, wouldn't you give these little guys a bunch of candy if they showed up at your door? They were perfect gentlemen, not pushing, saying please and thank you, and each studied the candy bowl to make sure they were getting the best piece of candy.
Any time we stopped, Luke, of course, would count the bountiful harvest.
Alice was a wonderful doodle bug and tagged along with all of those boys. She did, however, try to take anybodies candy that happened to wonder to close to her curious hands. :)

Tractor,
