Our blessed year

It was one year ago today that I was having an IUD put in, hoping it would end my suffering. I had had the obligatory pregnancy test and I was feeling rushed because our insurance was changing January 1, 2008. I didn't know that God had worked a miracle in my life. I didn't know that in just 16 days, I would come in and hear the most amazing news. Isn't God amazing in that He works miracles before we even know what is going on? If you had told me this time last year I would have a biological child, I would have pulled a Sarah and laughed. We have seen the doctors, I have had the surgeries, Matthew has had the multitude of tests and I had made peace with our situation.

Our huge blessing is currently downstairs chewing happily on his fist. I could not have asked for what God has given. I simply could not have imagined it. May God bless you abundantly in the coming year.

Merry Christmas!

A boy and his monster! Otherwise known as an Ugli Doll

Poor little guy was still tired from the night before! He woke up around 8:00 wanting to eat, and then promptly passed back out. We finally decided to get out of bed and open gifts even if he was asleep. Maybe next year he will be awake for the festivities!

Family Heirlooms

I wanted to show off Luke's dedication gown. This is the same gown Matthew wore for his Baptism. I just thought it was so wonderful Matthew's Mom let us borrow it for the occasion!

1 Samuel 1: 27-28

"I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord."
We had a wonderful day. As you can see, we have a nice size group at Journey Sunday to celebrate with us. Then, we had everybody over for lunch, which was a lot of fun. Our house did pretty well with almost twenty. My brother turned on the Colts/Lions game, so of course, we lost most of the male attendees attention, but they had a good time and that is all that matters!

it makes my heart sing

Look at that baby dimple!

I just thought I would share a picture that makes my heart sing. These photos were taken by my 6 year old sister. Pretty good huh? She got the smile I have been working two weeks to get. Maybe I should pick a different profession?
I started work again this week. I hate to leave my little guy, but finances are finances. I am so blessed to have my Mom watching him while I cannot. Matthew's Mom may even take a day a week, so Luke will have quality time with his grandparents. I arrived at my parents today to find my Dad sitting, feeding Luke. Such a squish. I think I found a good place to work. It is for a CPA's office doing admin stuff. It's a professional office, so I get to spend quality time with my hubby when he is home in the evenings and on the weekends. Also, I think I am only going to be working in the afternoons, and that is when Luke sleeps the most, so I guess I'm not missing to much. Still feel guilty though. Why do I feel so torn? I need to help provide for my family, but I need to be at home too. Well, I can't be superwomen. I can only be me. Wish me luck!

It was lost, but now is found!

To all concerned parties:

Matthew found my cell phone. There has been much rejoicing. You may once again reach me at my usual number.

That is all,

Susan

Lullaby and good night!

It has happened. Luke is sleeping through the night. I can't believe how much better I feel now that I get 7 hours of sleep in a row! Matthew has more of a spring in his step also. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with our families, both in Indiana and Ohio, and enjoyed the madness of Black Friday. Matthew and I accidentally ran into each other at Kohl's. :) We were shopping for each other, so we had to do the old, smile and back away from each other so we didn't reveal the other's presents. Luke, however, has seen all gifts and is doing a great job at keeping secrets.
This is Luke's favorite pastime. He is really looking for his thumb and I don't think it is going to be long before he gets it.
Who's chubby baby is that! He's not 3 months yet, but he is wearing size 3-6. I knew he would grow fast, but I didn't think this fast.

Well, Luke is growing bored sitting on my lap and has started to complain. He wants to get down and bat at some toys, so this post will have to be short.
